Auran has announced their intention to provide content support for Microsoft Train Simulator. A conversion utility will be released that will allow Auran's Trainz models to be used with MSTS.
28th March 2001: BRISBANE, Australia: International game development company Auran today announced its intention to provide content support for the Microsoft Train Simulator(tm) software due for release May 2001.
Auran will release a conversion utility for Auran's Trainz(tm) models to be used in the Microsoft software program. This move will extend Microsoft's product to support an extensive range of train-related models from all over the world.
Auran's CEO, Greg Lane, commented, "We see the Train simulation market as being huge. We wholly endorse the direction that Kuju and Microsoft are taking with their visually exciting rail network software."
Auran's Trainz(tm) models are authentically detailed 3D locomotives, rolling stock and trackside accessories. These models are intended to be compatible with both the Microsoft Train Simulator(tm) prototype rail simulation and Auran's Trainz(tm) virtual model rail simulation.
Lane added, "We were very excited to hear Microsoft's announcement that they will encourage and support the development of third party add-on products for Train Simulator via an Open Architecture approach. The Trainz(tm) conversion utility is a direct response to Microsoft's announcement."
The Trainz(tm) conversion utility will be available shortly after the release of Microsoft Train Simulator(tm), expected in late May 2001. Visuals of the Trainz(tm) models are available to preview now at the Auran Web site at www.virtualtrainz.com. Trainz(tm) models will be available for purchase on-line via electronic download or mail order boxed product.
